Sports for WASH

Improve the lives of women & girls through sport

We enhance the knowledge of sports teachers and coaches through capacity building and training which focus on how sport can promote a variety of topic related to WASH, sanitation and hygiene. We visit secondary schools and collaborate with sports teachers to implement WASH education using the vehicle of sports. Our project titled, “The Girl Soccer League for better menstrual health” prioritizes the knowledge of girls. We educate them around menstrual hygiene management, sanitation and Hygiene management, proper disposal of waste, handwashing with soap, proper toilet use, Sexual reproductive health & right, and other health related issues such as COVID-19.

We also provide sports equipment to girls school teams as well as construction materials such as bags of cements and iron sheets to be used for the construction of private toilets. Girls often use a private toilet during a menstruation period for changing sanitary pads. Sports activities in schools are an ideal way to promote WASH and address UN SDG Goal #6 to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
